They envisioned a spinoff series centered around her character, described as a beach-set high school drama with a focus on training lifeguards. This concept, reminiscent of the popular show Beverly Hills, 90210, seemed like a dream come true for the young actress.
However, the success of Baywatch itself became an obstacle. As the show skyrocketed to the top-rated program globally, the network's interest in the spinoff waned. Eggert recalled the moment she realized her dreams were being dashed: "They were like, 'Spinoff? Nothing! This is what’s working, and we want it to stay like this!'"
At 20 years old, Eggert made a bold decision to leave Baywatch, hoping to escape the stigma associated with the show's reputation. She admitted, "I had some crazy idea in my head that if I left the show, I would be able to detach myself from the stigma that the show had given all of us as actors, which is now a thing."
Looking back, Eggert acknowledges the potential of the canceled spinoff, "And Elizabeth Berkley was attached. We had a great cast. It was a great idea. It would’ve been a great show."
